Community and connection are at the heart of my work. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where families feel seen, heard, and valued. As a doula, certified lactation counselor, photographer and infant massage instructor, I am committed to instilling confidence in parents, reminding them of the strength and wisdom they already have within. You're deserving of the birth you desire and to have your words heard every step of the way.
WELCOME I'M SHANIKA
As a mother of four you can trust that I know just how important it is to feel comfortable and safe in your birth space. In my own motherhood journey I have experienced two very different hospital births and two home births, so I understand the unexpected parts of birth. We may not have full control on when birth happens, but we can have control over the decisions that make up our birth experience. I'm dedicated to helping you feel empowered to make informed decisions during pregnancy, birth and motherhood because this is a moment you deserve to feel in control.
I believe in a holistic approach to health and life, so I find I tend to connect well with those who desire to birth unmedicated, at home, or in a birth center but I love supporting all births, welcoming each experience. We live in a small town right in the Willamette Valley, about 40mins from Portland, Oregon.

Doula Support
It is my goal to help empower you to have the knowledge, strength, and confidence you need to give yourself the birth experience YOU DESERVE! I believe in building a relationship and individualized care, that means having me as your doula we will work together to learn what works best for YOU. You get to make the decisions around your birth and I will be there to support whatever you decide.
During pregnancy, birth and postpartum you will be provided with continuous non-judgmental support. We will learn your coping methods, birthing positions for optimal fetal position, labor signs, common interventions and what to expect.
Portland Birth Photography
Birth photography means you don't have to worry about your spouse trying to capture every moment, wondering if anything was missed! Instead they can be in the moment with you, providing you with the support you need. To see the behind the scenes moments you may have missed because you were in your labor zone, to replay the moment they placed your baby on your chest, the look on your face when you realized YOU DID IT! I'll be there to document it all so you can rest assured!
Birth is a huge life event and it's definitely worth documenting! Every birth is different, and each birth experience only happens once. As a mother myself, I know just how important it is to have photographs to look back on to remember every detail that make up our birth stories! Birth can be traumatic, but having photographs to look back on can provide you with feelings of empowerment and help with the healing process. Birth can be a blur as those first moments go by fast!
